The difference in our law firm is our leader does ground up construction, and drives heavy machinery when required. There is no better way to understand how employment works in the construction industry than to work in it. Meal breaks are not possible when there is concrete being pumped, or concrete that needs to be finished before it dries. Overtime might be required the day before the city inspector is coming. Time records may not be written by the actual employee, or even kept on site. Employees driving their trucks to pick up materials need to be reimbursed. I am Karl Gerber and I represent quite a few construction workers. Although I have been a labor lawyer since 1993, when not in the office, I do the kind of work they do. My trades are concrete, stucco, grading with heavy machinery and compacting, landscape, painting, underground trenching and pipe installation, drywall finishing, and supervising all aspects of construction.
